Welcome!

Viola is located in the foothills of the beautiful Ozark Mountains. It has a population of approximately 337 as of the 2010 census.  Viola officially became a town in 1860 when the Post Office was first set up.  Viola was named by the first Postmaster, Newton Barker.  His previous hometown was Viola, Kentucky.  He named his daughter Viola, also.

Our area is perfect for the outdoorsman!  Lake Norfork is just about a 20 minute drive from here and offers fishing, camping, swimming, boating and so much more!  Visit Lake Norfork's Chamber website for more information.  The Spring and White rivers are also just short drives away offering some of the best trout fishing around!  Visit Arkansas.com for more information.

You will quickly learn that Viola's climate is much the same as the rest of the mid-west: hot in the Summer and cold in the Winter.  However, we have a distinct four seasons with mild and comfortable temperatures in the Spring and Fall.
