We invite you to come and visit our community! We are a small town located in North Central Arkansas, about 26 miles east of Mt. Home and about 10 miles west of Salem on Highway 62. As of the 2010 census, Viola has a population of 337.
You will quickly learn that Viola's climate is much the same as the rest of the mid-west; hot in the Summer and cold in the Winter. However, we have distinct four seasons with mild and comfortable temperatures in the Spring and Fall.
Our area is perfect for the outdoorsman! Lake Norfork is just about a 20 minute drive from here and offers fishing, camping, swimming, boating and so much more! Visit Lake Norfork's Chamber website for more information. The Spring and White rivers are also just short drives away offering some of the best trout fishing around! A note from the Mayor....
The City of Viola is a small incorporated town in North Central Arkansas. The City has a mayor/council form of government with elected positions consisting of the mayor, five councilmen, and a clerk-recorder. The city is within easy driving distance of three larger municipalities which offer shopping opportunities such as Wal-Mart, Lowes, Home Depot, new-car automobile dealerships, and excellent medical care. I would describe Viola as a quiet little town where people care about each other and often show that concern in the way they respond to emergencies or tragedies which affect anyone in the community. The four churches in Viola always respond to needs whenever and wherever they exist. Viola is a great place to raise your family where children can play outside without fearing for their safety. Viola School is an excellent school system where scores on the State Benchmark Exams often places Viola among the leaders of top performing districts in the state. The school enjoys excellent support in the community. Viola High School’s baseball, softball, and basketball teams have all established a great tradition of excellence with frequent appearances in regional and state tournaments and boast four state championships. The City also operates a park which offers recreational opportunities including three baseball and softball fields, a tennis court, playground area, and an asphalt walking trail. Summer youth programs are in full swing at the park from mid-May though early July. Come see us soon! We would love to have you!
